A tutor near you in Dubai

Families who search for a tutor near me in Dubai want help this week, without a drive across the city. The lesson is a live video call in English. Your child stays home.

What families in Dubai are usually studying

Dubai does not have one school course. A child on the English National Curriculum may be heading for GCSEs and then A Levels, and the exam board can change from Maths to Physics, so we ask for the book rather than a single label. Dubai College, for example, follows that national curriculum with GCSEs and A Levels, and the lesson follows the examination board and course the school named. A JESS family in Sixth Form is on the IB pathway, alongside BTEC Plus at the school. We confirm the subject before we arrange anything, and we do not teach BTEC.

CBSE classes are part of the city as well, from Class 6 upward. IGCSE and O Level are separate qualifications, even when two cousins in the same villa are on different books. Middle school for us is Grades 6 to 8. In a British school that is usually Years 7 to 9, not Year 6. The exam courses start when the school enters them, not in Grade 6. If you are unsure which book is in the bag, a photo of the cover is enough for the first call.

How a lesson fits a Dubai school week

Gulf Standard Time is UTC+4 all year, shared with Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Muscat. Riyadh, Doha, Manama and Kuwait City are an hour earlier, so a 5:30 pm lesson in Dubai is 4:30 pm for a cousin in Riyadh. Most families ask for a time between 4 pm and 8:30 pm, once the school day is over and before the house gets too late. Tell us the hour in Dubai time and we will repeat it back before anything is booked.

The first conversation is a diagnostic of about 20 minutes on WhatsApp. It is a conversation, not a charged lesson. We ask for the school, the grade or year, the subject, and the chapter that stalled. When you want to continue, we agree one weekly hour and send the invoice, and only then does the paid lesson go on the calendar. If a test is close, say the date the teacher gave you. We will not invent a date the board has not published.

Prices, and what the hour is like

There are two one-to-one prices in dirhams. An expert teacher is AED 50 a lesson. The Head of Academy is AED 99 a lesson. The same two lessons appear in other currencies on the pricing page for families who also keep a home in Riyadh or elsewhere. Maths and Physics are the Head of Academy's own subjects. If you need Chemistry, Biology or English, we tell you on the diagnostic whether a teacher is free, before any invoice.

A typical hour stays on one chapter. The student explains the idea back, then tries a short question from the school sheet. Homework is a few items from that chapter, not a second course. Afterwards you get a short note on the same WhatsApp thread: what was taught, whether the practice was done, and the next step. It is a note for you, not a report from the school.

The lesson comes to you on a video call, so there is no drive to the Marina, JLT, Arabian Ranches, Mirdif or Jumeirah. Your child works where the books already are, and we set the hour in Gulf time after school.

Yes, as two separate lessons. They are different qualifications, and we follow each book rather than treating them as the same course. Tell us which child is on which one when you book.

The school name, the grade or year, the subject, and a photo of the chapter or the book cover if you have it. That is enough for a useful 20-minute conversation. You do not need to type a code.

Dubai lessons are priced in dirhams: AED 50 with an expert teacher, or AED 99 with the Head of Academy. The diagnostic is free. We send the invoice and agree the hour before the first paid lesson is placed on the calendar.
