From Grade 6
Middle school, Grades 6 to 8
This page is for families whose child is in Grade 6, 7 or 8, whether the school calls it middle school, Key Stage 3 or CBSE Classes 6 to 8. Lessons are live, online and one to one, in English. We do not teach primary years.
Who it is for
A child in these years is often meeting algebra, longer writing, and science that is no longer only description. The school book still leads. We do not replace the class. We slow the chapter down until the student can explain it and use it in a question.
Tell us the school and the grade on the booking form. Year, Grade and Class do not always mean the same age. A photo of the chapter is more useful than the label on the timetable.
How lessons work
Each lesson is a live video call in the family's timezone. Dubai and Sharjah use Gulf time. Riyadh, Doha, Kuwait and Bahrain are one hour earlier. Jakarta is three hours later than Dubai. We agree the hour after school.
The teacher works from the school worksheet. The student explains the idea back before the call ends. Homework is a few questions from that chapter, not a second syllabus.
Before the exam years
There is no separate exam board at this stage for most of our families. When a school test is near, we use that test's style: short answers, labelled diagrams and simple calculations. Past papers become the main work later, on the IGCSE, O Level, CBSE or FBISE pages.
Subjects and topics
Maths
Number and algebra, geometry, measures, and an introduction to statistics.
English
Reading for meaning, paragraph writing, and grammar the student can reuse.
Science
Living things, materials, forces and energy, and the Earth. Physics, Chemistry and Biology stay together until the school separates them.
What a lesson costs
Lessons are one to one. An expert teacher is AED 50 a lesson. The Head of Academy is AED 99 a lesson. The pricing page shows those two lessons in SAR, BHD, QAR, KWD, OMR, ringgit, Singapore dollars and rupiah. The 20-minute diagnostic is a free conversation, and a paid lesson is placed on the calendar only after you have seen the invoice and agreed the hour. Tell us the city so the time is written on your clock: Gulf time for Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Muscat, Arabia time for Riyadh, Jeddah, Doha, Manama and Kuwait, and the later clocks for Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Jakarta and Bali. Maths and Physics can be with the Head of Academy. Other subjects are confirmed on the diagnostic if a teacher is free for that book.
Practical questions
The published offer starts at Grade 6. If a younger child needs help, we say so on WhatsApp rather than booking a lesson we do not run.
Grades 6 to 8 follow the school book for that year. IGCSE and O Level are the exam courses that usually start around Grade 9, and they have their own pages.
The school name, the grade, the subject, and one chapter that is stuck. A photo of the last test is useful and not required.
A Grades 6 to 8 lesson is 45 to 60 minutes. The diagnostic before it is about 20 minutes and is not invoiced.
Yes, as two separate one-to-one lessons, so each book gets its own time. Name both subjects on the booking form.
It names the ideas covered, whether the short homework was done, and the next chapter. It goes to you on the same WhatsApp thread. It is not a school report.
