IGCSE tutoring
IGCSE is the exam course many international schools use in Grades 9 and 10. This page explains who it is for, the subjects we teach, and how a one-to-one lesson is different from the school class. If the book says O Level, use the O Level page. The papers are not the same.
Who it is for
Families in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Manama, Doha and the other countries we serve book this when the school has entered Cambridge IGCSE or a closely related international course.
For Cambridge IGCSE subjects that offer Core and Extended, we follow the route entered by the school. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Mathematics uses Foundation and Higher tiers. If you do not know which route was entered, ask the school or send the statement of entry. We will not guess.
How a lesson works
The call is live video, in English, one student at a time. We stay with the chapter that is stuck, then set a short practice from that chapter. A note afterwards tells you what was taught, whether the practice was done, and the next step.
Exam preparation, when you ask for it, is past questions under a timer and a look at how the mark scheme awards the method as well as the final line.
Subjects and topics
Maths
Number, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and statistics. Core or Extended, as the school entered.
Physics
Motion, forces, energy, waves, electricity and magnetism.
Chemistry
Particles, bonding, acids, the periodic table, and an introduction to organic chemistry.
Biology
Cells, organisation, disease, plants, and ecology.
English
Reading, directed writing, summary, and grammar in context.
What a lesson costs
Lessons are one to one. An expert teacher is AED 50 a lesson. The Head of Academy is AED 99 a lesson. The pricing page shows those two lessons in SAR, BHD, QAR, KWD, OMR, ringgit, Singapore dollars and rupiah. The 20-minute diagnostic is a free conversation, and a paid lesson is placed on the calendar only after you have seen the invoice and agreed the hour. Tell us the city so the time is written on your clock: Gulf time for Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Muscat, Arabia time for Riyadh, Jeddah, Doha, Manama and Kuwait, and the later clocks for Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Jakarta and Bali. Maths and Physics can be with the Head of Academy. Other subjects are confirmed on the diagnostic if a teacher is free for that book.
Practical questions
Students in the IGCSE years, usually Grades 9 and 10, whose school book is Cambridge IGCSE or a matching international course. O Level has its own page.
IGCSE lessons are one to one, live on video, in English. We agree the hour in your timezone after school, and a second student is not added to the same IGCSE call.
IGCSE tuition is AED 50 with an expert teacher and AED 99 with the Head of Academy. The pricing page shows the other currencies for that same IGCSE lesson. The diagnostic before the first paid IGCSE lesson is free.
Send the school, the grade, the subject, and a photo of the chapter if you have one. For IGCSE, the book matters more than the timetable label.
For a test on this IGCSE page, we use past questions in the style of that paper, a timer, and the mark scheme, so the student sees what earns the point.
Book IGCSE from the booking page and name IGCSE in the note. It opens WhatsApp, and email is there if WhatsApp does not open. A paid IGCSE lesson is invoiced before it is placed on the calendar.
